Essex Cup First Round - Norlington U13 vs Redden Court U13

Norlington U13 made a strong start to their Essex Cup campaign with a controlled and confident 9-wicket victory over Redden Court.

After winning the toss and electing to bowl, Norlington set the tone early through an outstanding spell from Azaan, who took 3 wickets for just 6 runs and removed key top-order batters. Husnain provided excellent support with 2 wickets, helping to maintain pressure through the middle overs.

Despite this strong bowling performance, there are areas to improve in the field. A few dropped catches and missed opportunities allowed Redden Court to build partnerships and push on to a more competitive total of 121 for 9. While the energy and intent in the field was good, tightening this aspect will be important moving forward in the competition.

In response, Norlington showed maturity and composure with the bat. Haadi anchored the innings superbly with an unbeaten 41, guiding the chase with patience and control. After Azaan’s dismissal for 17, Husnain joined Haadi and shifted the momentum, playing a fluent and aggressive innings of 40 not out from just 25 balls.

The pair combined effectively to see Norlington home, reaching 123 for 1 in 19.1 overs and securing a comfortable win.

Key Performances:

Azaan: 3 wickets for 6 runs

Husnain: 2 wickets and 40*

Haadi: 41*

A very positive start to the Essex Cup campaign with plenty to build on, particularly tightening up in the field as the competition progresses.
