Year 7 Football Match Report
Norlington Year 7 Produce Second-Half Masterclass in 4–0 Away Victory Over Willowfield
Norlington Year 7 continued their unbeaten start to the season with a convincing 4–0 away win against Willowfield at Douglas Air today. After a competitive first half, Norlington found their breakthrough immediately after the interval, with a clinical attacking display securing the victory and moving them comfortably to the top of the table.
The opening half was closely contested, with both sides battling for control in midfield. Willowfield won plenty of individual duels and worked hard to frustrate Norlington, who struggled to find a way through a well-organised defence despite making promising progress in the final third.
Mohamed came close to breaking the deadlock with some excellent strikes, including one that brought a fantastic save from the Willowfield goalkeeper. A series of corners and further attempts followed, with efforts either being saved or striking the woodwork. Despite Norlington's pressure, the teams went into half-time level at 0–0.
The second half began in spectacular fashion. Following changes at the break, Humayal made an immediate impact from the left-hand side, opening the scoring within 30 seconds of the restart. The goal shifted the momentum firmly in Norlington's favour, and the visitors began to play with greater confidence.
Nazim also impressed after moving from left midfield into a central striking role. The positional change paid dividends as he found the net three times to claim his first hat-trick of the season. His finishing helped Norlington turn a tight contest into a comfortable 4–0 victory.
While the goals grabbed the headlines, Norlington's defensive performance was equally important. Goalkeeper Dawid secured another clean sheet, well supported by Ismail, Osman, and Haitham, whose defensive work helped keep Willowfield at bay.
The result extends Norlington's unbeaten run and reinforces the progress made by the Year 7 squad. Having scored 13 goals and conceded just one across their four matches, the team have demonstrated a strong balance between attacking threat and defensive discipline.
The players should be proud of their efforts. Their patience against a determined opponent, combined with the impact of the second-half substitutions, proved decisive.
Norlington now look ahead to their next fixture with confidence, aiming to maintain their position at the top of the table and continue a promising start to the season.
Man of the Match has to go to Nazim for his superb finishes and being the second Year 7 to score a hat-trick in two games.
