Norlington School and Sixth Form

Norlington School vs Robert Clack U15 National Stokes Knight Cup

Norlington U15s produced a strong and competitive display in the National Cup, ultimately losing by 5 wickets as Robert Clack chased down the target with an over to spare.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Norlington posted a solid 175/4 from 20 overs, built on a number of positive contributions and a composed top-order performance.

Givind Virdi led the way with an excellent 49 from 50 balls, anchoring the innings and providing stability after early wickets. However, while the team showed resilience, there is a clear reflection point around intent and scoring rate. All of Norlington’s top-order batters, aside from Hasnain Aziz, scored at under a run-a-ball, which meant that despite wickets in hand, the innings never quite reached its full potential.

In addition, all four wickets fell to relatively straightforward catches, rather than deliveries that beat the bat. This highlights an area for growth: with better shot selection, clearer communication, and more intent between the wickets, several players were well set to go on and post significantly bigger scores.

The innings was lifted brilliantly at the death by Hasnain Aziz, who struck an outstanding unbeaten 30 from 21 balls, scoring at a high strike rate and showing exactly the kind of positive intent needed in T20 cricket. Norlington finished strongly to give themselves a competitive total.

With the ball, Norlington made a positive start, with Ayaan Azan taking an early wicket to put immediate pressure on Robert Clack. The bowling unit worked hard throughout, with wickets shared across the side.

Robert Clack built partnerships through the middle overs and were able to maintain a slightly higher scoring rate, which proved decisive in the chase. Despite this, Norlington continued to compete well, taking the game deep and ensuring the opposition had to work hard for the result.

Robert Clack eventually reached the target in 19 overs, but the match remained competitive throughout.
