Norlington v Leytonstone
Norlington Year 7s edged past Leytonstone in a thrilling contest that proved to be our toughest basketball game so far this season. From the opening tip it was a back and forth game, with both teams trading baskets and defending with real intensity.
The scores were level at the end of normal time, and neither side could find a winner in the first period of extra time. It took double overtime to finally separate the teams, with Norlington holding their composure to secure a hard fought 24 to 22 victory against a very talented Leytonstone side. The game was won through Norlington’s commitment to rebounding and strong team defence, which limited Leytonstone’s second chance opportunities and kept us in the contest during key moments.
Ubaid was deservedly named man of the match, finishing with ten points and scoring repeatedly in clutch situations when the pressure was at its highest. Ayman Uthman made an important contribution with eight points from long range, alongside excellent ball handling under pressure. Daniel Liverpool was dominant on the boards and added four points, including the winning basket in overtime.
All of the boys put in a huge effort and played their part in an excellent team performance and a well earned win!
