Norlington vs LSC Indoor Cricket
Norlington produced a strong and resilient performance in a high scoring indoor cricket fixture against LSC, narrowly losing by just one run in the final over.
Norlington started at a disadvantage, with only five players available out of a possible six. This created large gaps and meant the boys had to work that little bit harder throughout the innings. At times our bowling could have been tighter, and in indoor cricket extras are always punished, with a couple of overs proving expensive.
LSC batted first and made a fast start, reaching 43 from the opening three overs, with Ayaan and Azaan both being put under pressure. Azaan then responded well, tightening his line and helping to slow the momentum. Shayaan picked up two important wickets in the middle overs, helping to restrict LSC’s progress, while Govind showed good character to recover after conceding wides and boundaries.
Despite these efforts, LSC continued to score freely, reaching 115 after eight overs and eventually posting a competitive total of 154.
Norlington responded positively with the bat, as Shayaan and Ayaan put together a fantastic opening partnership, scoring 19 from the first over and building a strong platform that genuinely gave Norlington the opportunity to win the game. The pair moved the score to 60 after four overs, keeping the required rate under control. Shayaan batted with great intent, striking multiple boundaries and a six, while Ayaan supported well before being run out following a superb direct hit, leaving Norlington at 89 for 1 after six overs.
Shayaan continued to anchor the innings rotating the strike with Azaan as Norlington progressed to 110 after seven overs and 131 after eight, keeping the contest finely balanced. Going into the final over, Norlington required 14 runs to win. Under pressure, a couple of wickets and dot balls swung the momentum, and Norlington eventually fell just one run short.
