orlington Year 10 vs The Lammas School
Waltham Forest League | 9th October 2025 | Douglas Eyre

Result:
 Norlington 1 – 0 The Lammas School

Norlington Year 10 started brilliantly, immediately on the front foot from the opening whistle and setting the tempo early on. The boys looked sharp in possession, pressing with intent and moving the ball with confidence.

Within the first 15 minutes, Muhammad Murad came close to producing a moment of magic — latching onto a perfectly weighted through ball and striking a stunning half-volley from 25 yards. The effort looked destined for the top corner, only to be denied by a remarkable save from the Lammas goalkeeper. Moments later, Faizan Faisal created another excellent opportunity, beating his full-back before firing a powerful effort from the edge of the box that was tipped away for a corner.

Norlington continued to dominate possession and territory, but despite creating several chances, the breakthrough wouldn’t come. The teams went into half-time level at 0–0, with Norlington frustrated by the scoreline but encouraged by their performance.

The second half followed a similar pattern, with Mustafa Faisal leading the line superbly — working tirelessly up front, pressing defenders, and constantly troubling The Lammas centre-backs.

The breakthrough finally arrived midway through the half when substitute Omar Halane flicked the ball onto Muhammad Murad, who slid an inch-perfect through pass into Faizan Faisal. Showing great pace and composure, Faizan outpaced the full-back, took a few neat touches, and calmly slotted the ball into the bottom corner to give Norlington a deserved 1–0 lead.

Lammas pushed hard to find an equaliser, putting Norlington under pressure in the closing stages, but the boys defended magnificently. Marwan Abdul Karim worked tirelessly in midfield alongside Shko Ibrahim, breaking up play and shielding the back line effectively. Ali Belkadi produced an acrobatic clearance as Lammas threw everything forward, while Tayab Mahmood made two crucial recovery challenges with his blistering pace.

As the tension grew, Shayaan pulled off an outstanding fingertip save in the final five minutes to preserve the lead. Norlington continued to play smart football on the counter, nearly adding another through James Fincham, whose driving run from centre-back forced a fine save from the Lammas keeper.

Eventually, Norlington held firm to secure a hard-fought and thoroughly deserved 1–0 victory.

Man of the Match:  Muhammad Murad – pulled the strings brilliantly in the number 10 role, linking play intelligently in attack while working tirelessly to support the defence.

Special Mention: 👏 Marwan Abdul Karim – a phenomenal performance in holding midfield, winning challenges, making key interceptions, and remaining composed under pressure throughout.
