Regional Sportshall Athletics
After winning the borough Sportshall Athletics competition, the Norlington Year 8 boys progressed to the regional Sportshall Athletics event on Tuesday 3rd of February. The competition featured strong schools from a range of boroughs including Hackney, Newham, and Barking & Dagenham, raising the standard significantly from the previous round.
Despite the increased level of competition, the boys performed with determination and resilience across a wide range of indoor athletics events. Every student contributed positively, showing great teamwork, effort, and commitment throughout the day.
Unfortunately, Norlington finished in 4th place, narrowly missing out on qualification for the London final. Only the top three schools progressed, with the boys falling just 9 points short, making the outcome particularly tough given the high quality of performances on display.
Despite this, finishing fourth at regional level is a fantastic achievement and reflects the hard work and talent within the squad. The boys should be extremely proud of their efforts, and please do congratulate them when they see them.
Focus now turns to the summer athletics programme, where the team will look to build on last year’s success and continue their positive development.
