U15 Essex Indoor Cricket Finals
Norlington’s U15 team competed in the Essex Indoor Finals at the Leyton County Ground looking to build on their strong indoor performances this season.
The competition followed a round robin format, with Bancroft School, St Bonaventure's and Norlington all playing each other twice. Matches were played in a fast paced format of 5 overs per innings, with 4 balls per over, placing a strong emphasis on quick decision making, sharp fielding, and the ability to score runs under pressure.
Norlington opened the tournament with an excellent win against Bancroft’s School, a side widely considered favourites going into the competition.
A key contribution came from Faizan, whose fielding in this game was outstanding. He took two sharp catches and completed a run out, directly influencing the result and setting the standard for the team.
In the return fixture against Bancroft’s, Norlington were again competitive but lost by just one run in a game that could have gone either way.
Against St Bonaventure’s, Norlington faced a side full of raw talent. Their good bowling and effective batting across both fixtures, against both Norlington and Bancroft’s, proved enough for them to be crowned champions.
Across the tournament, a few dropped catches and overthrows proved costly for Norlington. These small moments likely made the difference in both fixtures against St Bonaventure’s and in the narrow loss to Bancroft’s.
Norlington ultimately finished 2nd overall, a strong achievement but one that will feel like a missed opportunity given how close the margins were.
There are clear learning points to take from the day, and the focus now will now shift to applying these lessons as we move into the outdoor season.
